Actor suggests return of important character in the final stretch of season 1

Chris Potter voiced Gambit in the original animation, but has now returned to X-Men ’97 as Cable!

X-Men ’97 is entering its final stretch starting next week, with the exhibition of finale triple, “Tolerance is Extinction“. Fans are very curious to know how the plot will be tied up, especially now that we know who the real villain is behind the hunt against mutants. Potter is now the new voice of Cableand in his statement he may have given a great spoiler from the finale triple:

“They told me I would be playing a new character. I said, ‘What do you mean? I’m Gambit.’ And they said, ‘No more. We’re going to kill him in episode 3. You’re going to be Cable now.’ And well, as it is, Cable is the only one capable of bringing Gambit back.”

Potter might be a little confused, since Gambit died in the fifth episode, not in the third. Still, he has already made it clear that he did not like the decision to kill the hero: “I’m still angry that they did that.” However, with the Cable back, we know that time travel is already in the equation, and this could result in the return of Remy LeBeau.

Until now, X-Men ’97 has done a remix from several classic mutant team stories, such as And of Extinction and the bow Life in Death. Apparently, the last three episodes will be an adaptation of the plot of Operation: Zero Toleranceas Bastion highlighted in the narrative.

And considering that Cable’s stories almost always deal with time travel, it would make a lot of sense if most of the plot went through a retcon while the time traveler tries to stop the entire massacre of the people in Genosha – which could, of course, reverse the death of Gambit.
