The second trailer for the highly anticipated “Deadpool and Wolverine”, the third film in the “Deadpool” film series and the first set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was released this week. In it, we see the character Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) asking Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) for help to resolve some issues together.

There are some expectations surrounding this film. The first is whether he will be able to alleviate some of the hero fatigue that has set in among moviegoers over the last year. Films like “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “Aquaman 2: Lost Kingdom” did poorly at the box office and caused giants Marvel and DC to retreat a little in their release strategies. “Deadpool and Wolverine” is the only Marvel release scheduled for theaters this year.

Expectations increase a little more because the series “Deadpool” is banned for children under 17 in the United States due to him swearing and making references to drugs and things like that (as in the scene that ends the trailer). This classification normally is synonymous with adult films, but with not that attractive box office.

On the other hand, the film marks the definitive entry of the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, thanks to the presence of Wolverine. There was a lot of expectation around this, since after the merger of Fox (holder of the rights to the X-Men) with Disney (owner of Marvel), fans were insistently demanding the merger of the franchises as well. Whether “Deadpool and Wolverine” will be able to achieve all these goals we will know from July 25th, when it opens in theaters.

“Deadpool and Wolverine” is directed by Shawn Levy, and also stars Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni and Matthew Macfadyen.
