Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 It’s James Gunn’s last Marvel film, but it’s certainly not the end of the group of space mercenaries. After the conclusion of the trilogy, the group was drastically changed and no longer includes many of the original characters, but will gain new members instead.

Last chance to give up! From here on out, there are spoilers for those who haven’t watched it. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

How Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ended

The Guardians of the Galaxy have gained and lost members since the first film in the trilogy. For example, Nebula joined the group, but Gamora fell by the wayside (more specifically, in Avengers: Infinity War).

In the third film, the Guardians try to reestablish themselves in Nowhere, but their peace is shaken by villains from Rocket’s past.

Surprisingly, none of the troupe members die at the end. Instead, they choose to follow different paths. Peter Quill, Star-Lord, decides to return to Earth to be with his grandfather. Mantis chooses to travel the galaxy to find his place. Nebula and Drax want to remain in Nowhere and rebuild what was destroyed after the battle with the High Evolutionary, the film’s villain.

Who’s left?

  • This leaves only Rocket and Groot, already a young adult after dying in the first film and being reborn in the second.
  • The sequel should feature the raccoon as leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. This is because, in the third feature, he takes a leading role and it is possible to learn more about his past.
  • Furthermore, he goes from a grumpy bounty hunter who doesn’t care about his friends to a leader and father figure for Groot, including in other films. For example, in Avengers: Infinity Warthe character helps Thor forge the weapon to defeat Thanos and bring the group back to life.
  • Groot goes from a young adult to a big tree at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and you shouldn’t leave your best friend in the lurch.

New members of the Guardians of the Galaxy

But the Guardians of the Galaxy cannot be made up of just the two of them. Apparently, already known faces should officially join the group.

Get to know some, according to the Collider:

Kraglin (Photo: Marvel/Disclosure)

Kraglin

Kraglin is not a new face at all. Played by Sean Gunn (yes, director James Gunn’s brother), he was already an apprentice to Yondu (Peter Quill’s adoptive father) since the first film.

With the death of his mentor in the first film, he inherits his weapon, but initially does not know how to control it. Throughout the trilogy, he begins to master the instrument and helps the Guardians of the Galaxy to defeat the High Evolutionary, deserving his position in the group.

Cosmo (Photo: Marvel/Disclosure)

Cosmo, the space dog

Now Rocket will no longer be the only animal on the Guardians of the Galaxy team. Cosmo, the space dog, made an appearance in the first film of the trilogy, as a prisoner for the Collector’s “experiments”.

When the Power Stone destroys the villain’s collection, Cosmo survives and escapes his captor. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3she appears in Nowhere and, in the end, befriends Kraglin.

Adam Warlock (Photo: Marvel/Disclosure)

Adam Warlock

For Guardians of the Galaxy fans, it wasn’t a big surprise to see Adam Warlock joining the group, which should come to fruition in the next films.

In the third film, his mother Ayesha releases him earlier than expected due to the demand of her boss, the High Evolutionary. But Adam, created to be super powerful, is not completely mature and, when he is saved by Groot, he decides to change sides and return the favor by saving Peter Quill.

Phyla (Photo: Marvel/Disclosure)

Phyla

Phyla is one of the most mysterious characters who should join the new lineup of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

At the Vol. 3, it turns out that she is part of the High Evolutionary’s genetic experiment group, of which Rocket was also a part. Later, it is possible to see the raccoon teaching her English, a sign that the two already have a certain relationship.
