Ghostbusters: Apocalypse of Ice is coming to Brazilian cinemas, continuing the Ghostbusters franchise.

Ghostbusters: Apocalypse of Ice, the newest installment in the iconic film franchise, is close to opening in Brazil. Following Ghostbusters – Beyond, from 2021, the feature film continues exploring the return of classic characters to the current plot. However, an important figure from the original Ghostbusters was left out of Ice Apocalypse.

Despite appearing in the previous film in the series, Sigourney Weaver’s Dana does not appear in Ice Apocalypse. The love interest of Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Dana appeared in the post-credits scene included in Beyond. The scene revealed that Dana and Venkman were still in a relationship, with Dana taunting him with her Electroshock Generator. Therefore, considering that Peter Venkman is present in Ghostbusters: Ice Apocalypse, Dana’s absence becomes even more surprising.

Overcrowding of characters?

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter (Via: Screen Rant), director Gil Kenan states that he already had enough characters and stories, and it didn’t make sense to try to fit in cameos for Dana or even former Ghostbusters, Louis Tully (Rick Moranis). However, in the same interview, he comments that he would love to expand the focus to her if there is a possible sixth installment in the series. In other words, this could suggest that Dana’s return is being saved for the future.

Dana Barrett is also one of my favorite characters in those films, but there was no story for her in Ice Apocalypse. But if we’re lucky enough to make more of these movies, I’d love for Dana to have more to do in these stories.

In this sequel to the Ghostbusters franchise, the Spengler family returns to where it all began: the famous fire station in New York. They intend to team up with the original Ghostbusters who have developed a top secret research laboratory to take ghost hunting to the next level.

But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes a great force of evil, the Ghostbusters of both generations must join forces to protect their homes and save the world from a second Ice Age.

Ghostbusters: Apocalypse of Ice opens in theaters on April 11.
