Amazonas has a positive result in retail sales in March, shows IBGE research

Retail sales in Amazonas were 1.4% positive in March compared to February, in the seasonally adjusted series, reported this Wednesday, 8th, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The indicator is above the national average which, in March 2024, the volume of retail sales remained stable (0.0%), compared to February, in the seasonally adjusted series. In the previous month, there was an increase of 1.0%. The quarterly moving average grew 1.2% in the quarter ended in March.

Still in Amazonas, expanded retail trade, which includes, in addition to retail, the activities of Vehicles, motorcycles, parts and pieces, Construction material and Wholesale of food products, beverages and tobacco, the sales volume from February to March of 2024 had a negative variation of 1.8%. In Brazil, in terms of expanded retail, sales fell 0.3% in March compared to February, in the seasonally adjusted series.

In comparison with March 2023, without adjustment, expanded retail sales across the country fell by 1.5% in March. The median indicated growth of 0.1%, after an increase of 9.7%. Projections were for a drop of 3.6% to an increase of 5.3%.

Broad retail sales accumulated an increase of 4.6% in the year. In the 12 months up to March, there was an increase of 2.9%, compared to an increase of 3.6% up to February.
