A pai de santo was shot dead in Juazeiro, in the north of Bahia, on Tuesday (7). Fredson Vieira da Silva, 54 years old, was attacked on the street, in the Tabuleiro neighborhood, the same neighborhood where the terreiro he managed operates.
Information obtained by TV São Francisco, a TV Bahia affiliate in the region, indicates that the babalorixá had left home to buy food. Witnesses told the police that an individual approached Pai Dinha, as Fredson was better known, and fired several shots.
The man was hit in the head and chest. He was rescued in serious condition by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), but he did not survive his injuries.
Santo’s father is shot dead in northern Bahia
The babalorixá’s body was laid to rest at Terreiro Abassá de Bamburucema this afternoon and was then buried.
The crime is investigated by the Civil Police, which determines the authorship and motivation for the murder.
