The Government of Maranhão, through Maranhão Parcerias (Mapa) and the State Agency for Urban Mobility and Public Services (MOB), launched a notice to carry out studies and projects on the management of semi-urban public transport lines in the Metropolitan Region of São Luís. The presentation must be made by May 29th.
The study aims to improve the State’s public transport services, ensuring greater efficiency, safety and convenience for workers and passengers, in addition to stimulating economic development and sustainable mobility in the region.
Currently, the Government of Maranhão, through MOB, has 78 semi-urban lines and a fleet of 347 vehicles that circulate in São Luís, São José de Ribamar, Raposa and Paço do Lumiar.
For the president of Mapa, Cassiano Pereira Junior, the partnership with the private sector, through studies, will enable the execution of operational management of transport with higher quality. “The studies will allow the management of these MOB transport lines to be more efficient, which also means a better quality of life for the population who need to use public transport to get around. Joining forces with private partners in favor of improvements for the people of Maranhão is a determination of our governor Carlos Brandão”, he stated.
The president of MOB, Adriano Sarney, highlighted the importance of the partnership and the benefits that this study will bring to the entire semi-urban transport system: “This initiative is an important step towards the modernization and development of all semi-urban transport in Maranhão. This reflects the commitment of the State Government, together with partner bodies, to offering an even safer, more comfortable and efficient service for the people of Maranhão, improving what we are already doing and ensuring even more improvements”.
Public Call
Interested parties can participate in the Public Call by sending requests for authorization for the study with the required documentation to the email [email protected] or requesting an in-person protocol at Mapa’s headquarters, located in the Cesário Building , located at Avenida Senador Vitorino Freire, nº 29, Anel Viário, in São Luís.
Registration ends on May 29th. After this period, Mapa’s evaluation committee will publish the authorization terms in the Official Gazette of the State of Maranhão. All interested parties who meet the criteria set out in the notice will be authorized.
After this stage, authorized agents will have another 60 days to complete and send the studies to the same email or file in person at the public company’s headquarters.
