A group that brings together legal professors from across the country collects donations for rescue teams operating in Rio Grande do Sul in a typically Brazilian way, through a raffle. The prize is a collection of legal books valued at approximately R$40,000.

Since last week, teachers have already raised more than half a million reais and the raffle continues to be a success.

Part of the amount has already been used to rent chemical toilets, purchase masks, water and even a boat for volunteers.

Among those involved in the campaign is the prosecutor, Douglas Oldergado, who is a reference in the judiciary of Mato Grosso do Sul.

How to buy the raffle ticket

The MS promoter explains that to contribute it is very simple, just send R$ 20.00 using the pix key: [email protected]. It is important that the donor identifies himself when making the transfer.

The raffle draw will be held on May 15th. The winner will be awarded around 180 books that are fundamental to the career of any law student or legal professional.

The copies were donated by the group’s teachers.

“Even those who didn’t have a work to donate at the time started publicizing the raffle and the movement grew, the collection now amounts to around R$600,000.”

Douglas Oldergado, prosecutor.

Of this amount, R$100,000 has already been allocated to the purchase of kerosene for aircraft from the RS Fire Department (Rio Grande do Sul); R$64.2 thousand was used to purchase basic food baskets and R$57.3 thousand was used to purchase blankets.

The teachers have also sent 28 flashlights to the Rio Grande do Sul Military Police Shock Battalion, rented 10 chemical toilets and bought a boat for the volunteers.

The entire purchasing process is carried out by issuing invoices that are being disseminated through social media.

“Donations are being made as demands arise and we are being very careful regarding the sources of these requests. We are accounting for all donations.”

The prosecutor explains that the group is organized through WhatsApp.

Among the creators of the initiative are professor and writer of legal works Leonardo Castro and the federal judge of Rio de Janeiro, Willian Douglas. Willian is responsible for Educafro, the institution that is concentrating the money raised from the raffle.

In addition to teachers, the group also includes judges, writers, lawyers and other professionals linked to the judiciary.

“The group had 540 teachers, but with the campaign this number increased, now there are around 600 teachers, in this group that brings together some of the most renowned legal teachers in the country”.
