A 28-year-old woman and her 38-year-old partner were arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing an 11-year-old child, in Sorriso, 420 km from Cuiabá, this Monday (6). The perpetrators are the victim’s mother and stepfatheraccording to the police.
The police reported that the man under investigation is a surgical scrub technician and will be charged with the crime of rape of a vulnerable person. The mother, on the other hand, worked in a clinic in the city and must answer for the crime of rape by omission, since he was aware of and consented to the abuse.
The delegate responsible for the case, João Wanick, said that the Guardianship Council received the complaint about the sexual crime and that the victim suffered sexual and psychological violence since the age of 8, being compared to the sister, who is the biological daughter of both those investigated.
“In addition to suffering psychological violence in order not to denounce her stepfather, she suffered various insults, such as ‘monkey’ and ‘ugly’, they cut her hair very short in order to intimidate her so that she would not report it to any of her relatives. Aunts and grandparents said that the child was isolated and didn’t talk to anyone,” said the police chief.
Heard in specialized listening, the child reported the abuse committed by her stepfather and said she told her mother, however, the woman did not believe her daughter and even attacked the child as a form of punishment.
According to the police, the teams also received a report of abandonment of an incapacitated person when the victim was 5 years old and found her alone locked inside the house. When asking about her parents, the child reported that her mother and her husband had gone out to an event.
