Woman is attacked by security at Tarauacá hospital

The victim is treated for depression and takes prescription medication. She carries out medical monitoring with municipal teams.

The images went viral on social media this Sunday (5) and the State Department of Health (Sesacre) released a statement of repudiation. According to the government, the hospital’s administrative team immediately asked the company to remove those involved.

In the video, you can see the moment when the security guard knocks the woman to the ground and kicks her. Soon after, another man appears and even though he doesn’t attack the woman, he does nothing to prevent the attack.

O g1 spoke with the freelancer this Monday (6). She said she sought care at the hospital around 9pm on Saturday with back pain. Upon arriving at the unit, she recalls that she went to reception to tell her what she was feeling, however, she was not attended to by professionals.

Without assistance, she claims she sat in the chair and waited. “I had a back problem last year and I had a headache. I wasn’t received, no one gave me an injection. I said I wanted to take medicine, but they didn’t say yes or no. They turned their backs. That man came to treat me badly, hitting me, kicking me, breaking my laces, my bracelets. I don’t know what happened”, he lamented.

Secondly, the wait lasted for around two hours at reception. She says she decided to walk to the back of the hospital to relieve her back pain. Upon arriving at the scene, Vanderleia says she started talking to a boy who was passing by with a relative with an injured leg.

“I can’t spend a lot of time sitting down because of my back. I saw a guy with his brother who had injured his leg. I talked to him in a good way when the security guards arrived, they grabbed me from behind. I told him it wasn’t like that. I’m all hurt “, he stated.

After being approached at the back of the hospital, Vanderleia says she was taken to the front, where she was attacked with kicks and blows with a baton. The freelancer recalls that there were three security guards and a criminal police officer, who was in the unit on duty with prisoners.

According to her, only one of the security guards did not participate in the attacks. “He arrived pulling me. It was the two security guards and a criminal police officer. The people inside the hospital did nothing, no one. I lost my earrings, my sandals. Nobody helped me. I’m very upset, I’m asking God for strength. I was hurt in the leg, in the mouth and everywhere”, he explained.

Vanderleia da Silva gave a statement to the Civil Police this Monday (6). Police chief Ronerio Silva is expected to listen to the security guards this Tuesday (7) and also summoned the hospital director to appear at the police station.

The victim underwent forensic examinations. “She has marks on her body, on her side, she had a fingernail ripped off. We called the security guards to listen to them and find out their version. Personnel from the municipality’s Women’s Secretariat looked for her and provided assistance. There was no negligence on their part, but in the hospital did not provide assistance to her”, he added.

The delegate revealed that he was informed about the existence of images from other angles that show the woman being attacked by another server. “I’ve already asked for these images. She says there was someone else beating her. I’m following everything with the Public Prosecutor’s Office. They’re following it,” he pointed out.

Silva highlighted that he is also investigating whether there was any type of negligence on the part of the hospital. “We are collecting initial statements to be able to evolve”, he concluded.

O g1 contacted the hospital management and is awaiting a response. The internal affairs department of the Acre Penitentiary Administration Institute (Iapen-AC) said that no complaints have yet been filed against a criminal police officer at the unit.
