The State of Rio de Janeiro confirmed the downward trend in the number of dengue cases. According to the Department of Health, the disease panorama shows that five of the nine health regions are at the lowest level. ebc.gif?id=1593733&o=node

The Secretary of State for Health, Claudia Mello, said that “dengue is receding, but we still cannot let our guard down. We still have many cases and we need the population to remain alert and prevent themselves by combating sources of standing water at home.”

For her, “despite it being the first step, we are still on alert. The number of cases remains above the average for this period of the year. And not all regions are in the same situation,” she explained.

Level 1 indicates that the number of cases exceeds the maximum limit expected for a given time by up to five times, based on data from the last decade.

Scenario

This situation is observed in the Metropolitan 1 and Baixada Litorânea regions, which were at level 2, and in Ilha Grande Bay, Central South and Northwest, which already had this level.

The northern region remains at level 3, the highest on the scale. The mountainous region dropped from 3 to 2, the same level as Médio Paraíba. While Metropolitana II rose from level 1 to 2.

Until this Monday (6), there were 233,566 probable cases of dengue and 139 confirmed deaths throughout the state of Rio. The accumulated incidence rate is 1,455 cases/100 thousand inhabitants.
