The Federal Revenue has extended, from May 31st to August 31st, the deadline for taxpayers from 336 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul to submit their income tax declaration. RFB Ordinance No. 415 was published in an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Union this Monday (3/5).
The extension of deadlines includes payment of federal taxes, installments and the fulfillment of additional obligations for taxpayers domiciled in locations affected by intense rains from 4/24.

The measure was adopted based on Ordinance MF No. 12/2012, of the Ministry of Finance, and State Decree No. 57,603, of May 5, 2024, issued by the government of Rio Grande do Sul.
According to the ordinance, federal taxes due in April, May and June 2024 will be extended to the last business day of July, August and September 2024, respectively. The extension does not imply the right to a refund of amounts collected during the extension period.

Furthermore, the deadlines for carrying out procedural acts within the scope of the Federal Revenue of Brazil, in relation to administrative processes of interest to taxpayers domiciled in the affected municipalities, will be suspended until May 31, 2024.
The measures do not apply to taxes covered by the Special Unified Regime for the Collection of Taxes and Contributions owed by Micro and Small Businesses (Simples Nacional).
