Residents of municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul impacted by the recent floods will have more time to pay Income Tax, as determined by a Federal Revenue ordinance published in an extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette of the Union. The delivery deadline, originally until May 31, has been extended for August 31 in the affected locations.
The measure is not limited to Income Tax, but covers all federal taxes, including installments, in addition to the fulfillment of ancillary obligations, both for individuals and medium and large companies. Until May 31, the practice of procedural acts in administrative processes of interest to taxpayers domiciled in the affected municipalities was also suspended.
These provisions apply to residents of 336 municipalities in a state of public emergency.
For micro and small companies, as well as individual micro-entrepreneurs in these municipalities, tax payments were postponed by 30 days. Taxes for April, originally due by May 20th, were postponed until June 20th. Likewise, May taxes, initially due on June 20th, will now be due until July 22nd.
An ordinance from the Simples Nacional Management Committee was also published in the extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette of the Union, extending the deadline for micro and small companies, as well as for MEIs. The Federal Revenue clarified that this extension does not imply the right to refund or compensation of amounts already collected by taxpayers.
Finance Minister Fernando Haddad previously mentioned that the government intended to defer the payment of taxes by companies in areas affected by floods in Rio Grande do Sul, similar to the measures adopted last year for companies in regions hit by natural disasters. .
