Delivery of Income Tax in affected cities in RS is extended to August

Residents of municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul affected by the floods in the state will have another three months to file their Income Tax declaration. A Federal Revenue ordinance published in an extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette of the Union postponed, from May 31st to August 31stthe delivery time in the affected locations.ebc.gif?quality=70&strip=all&ssl=1

The ordinance did not only extend the payment of Income Tax, but all federal taxes, including installments, and the fulfillment of additional obligations, for individuals and medium and large companies.

Furthermore, the Revenue suspended, until May 31, the practice of procedural acts in administrative processes of interest to taxpayers domiciled in the affected municipalities.

The measures will apply to residents of 336 municipalities in a state of public calamity. The list of locations can be consulted here.

Deferred taxes

Micro and small companies and individual microentrepreneurs in the 336 municipalities will also have their tax payments postponed for 30 days. Taxes relating to taxable events in April, which should be paid by May 20th, will be transferred to June 20th. Taxes on May taxable events, which would expire on June 20th, will be extended to July 22nd.

The extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette of the Union also published an ordinance from the Simples Nacional Management Committee extending the deadline for micro and small companies and MEIs. The Federal Revenue informed that, for these taxpayers, the extension of the deadline does not imply the right to refund or compensation for amounts that have already been collected.

On Monday (6), the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, had said that the government intended to postpone the payment of taxes by companies in areas affected by the extreme weather event in Rio Grande do Sul within the same year. According to him, this This measure was adopted last year for companies in areas hit by natural disasters.

“Last year, if I’m not mistaken, we changed payment dates, we took a series of measures to alleviate this issue. It’s a deferral, that’s on our radar. A kind of temporary resignation [de receitas]”, declared the minister.
