Hydrometeorological monitoring carried out by the Natural Disaster Prevention Superintendency, in conjunction with the Alert Room of the State Secretariat for the Environment and Water Resources of Alagoas (Semarh-AL), reveals that the intense rains that have been hitting the state for almost 24 hours are causing an increase in the levels of rivers, streams and lagoons.

In a bulletin released this Tuesday, Semarh-AL presented the updated situation of water bodies. The Coruripe River and the Piauí River are rising, with a tendency to increase due to the flow of water upstream. The Jequiá and Conduípe Rivers are rising, with overflow points in Jequiá da Praia and Feliz Deserto.

The Jacarecica and Silva Creeks are also rising, with the possibility of overflowing in the coming hours. Laguna Manguaba registers an increase in its level, losing its natural oscillation, with the mark of 210 cm at 07:00. The overflow level is 270 cm.

Given the scenario, the Civil Defense of Maceió issued an alert for the possibility of intense rain until next Wednesday (8). To keep the population informed and safe, the Municipal Civil Defense Integrated Monitoring and Alert Center (CIMADEC) sends text messages with alerts to those registered on the platform.

To receive alerts, citizens can enter the ZIP code of their residence by sending a free SMS to the number 40199. It is also possible to receive alerts via WhatsApp, interacting with the virtual assistant or sharing the current location.
