Comedian Nego Di is in Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul, providing support to residents affected by heavy rains in the city. In a video shared on social media, this Sunday (5), he explained the urgent supplies to help the victims and the lack of drinking water.

“The people of Canoas still need help. You need a jetski, boat, oil, gasoline, water, lots of water, sandwich, hot dog, lunch box. Anyone who wants to help makes food and donates it to these people”, reported Nego Di.

He said that at night the situation becomes desperate to help stranded people. “To take advantage of the early hours, you have to buy a torch because it was night yesterday and people were desperate to help in the dark and it got bad because we couldn’t get a torch,” he said.

The ex-BBB warned that it is necessary to take care to help others, as he went a day without drinking water. “Whoever is going to help, be careful not to become a victim too. Yesterday I went all day without taking a sip of water, I didn’t eat anything. I just ate a loaf of bread before going to sleep and woke up feeling bad, I was shaking, had a hellish headache, had a pain in my stomach, I was sick, weak. I want to and I will help today, but if the guy doesn’t help himself he won’t be able to continue”, he highlighted.

Storm in RS

The regions most affected by the rains in RS are: Central, Vale do Rio Pardo, Metropolitana, Serra Gaúcha and Vale do Taquari. More than 500,000 people are without water and there are more than 292 points without electricity.

Rio Grande do Sul decreed state of public calamity last Wednesday (1st), and governor Eduardo Leite stated that this will be “the biggest disaster in the history of Rio Grande do Sul”.

A Brazil’s navy sent teams, vessels, aircraft and vehicles to help with the rescue. A Brazilian air force sent two helicopters to rescue victims in cities isolated because of highway closures, such as Candelariafor example.

“It’s not money for the government. The state, the government, has the resources to carry out reconstruction works. This resource that is donated to this official PIX key is managed by a private entity, with public monitoring and social entities, and will be used to support people who lost everything, small businesses that lost everything”, he told Itatiaia.

The governor warned of the dangers of unofficial donations. “Useful people publish requests for donations here and there, but they don’t always get the resources to the people who need them. We have official avenues for people to help,” he added.
