Number of cases of Oropouche Fever rises to 307 in Bahia

The number of confirmed cases of Oropouche Fever in Bahia rose to 307, according to a survey carried out by the Central Public Health Laboratory (Lacen), last Friday (3).

The first case of the disease in Salvador was confirmed on April 10. The disease was mapped in 27 cities in Bahia.

Oropouche Fever is a viral disease transmitted by Culicoides paraensis, known as maruim or sandfly. Symptoms include fever, headache and muscle pain, similar to those of other arboviruses such as dengue and chikungunya.
