Data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (Caged) for the month of March this year were positive for Santa Catarina. The state had a balance of 13,892 jobs in the period, with emphasis on the services and industry sectors. With this, the total number of signed portfolios exceeds 2.5 million.

The positive balance is the result of the difference in the number of hires (149 thousand) and dismissals (135 thousand). The services sector leads the survey with the creation of 7,112 jobs. In second place comes industry, which generated 4,697 new jobs.

“We have created a favorable environment for the expansion of large and small businesses and industries. We see the result in these numbers. The economy is booming, generating jobs and income”, highlighted governor Jorginho Mello.

In the division by gender, women were the majority in hiring in March: 6,988 of them obtained formal employment. While men accounted for 6,904 admissions.

The Secretary of State for Industry, Commerce and Services, Silvio Dreveck, attributed the growth “to the excellent performance recorded by the industry and service sectors, which, once again, led the ranking of formal jobs in the state. In industry, the highlight was the textile, construction and automotive segments. The services sector was also very important and the State worked very well with the Summer Season. We had a significant movement of tourists in the month of March. As a result, the movement in hotels, bars, restaurants and even commerce in general was extraordinary,” he explained.
