A fire broke out in the building of the former Gonçalves supermarket, on Avenida Ceará, in Rio Branco, this Friday morning (3). The Fire Department was called via the Military Police Operations Center (Copom) to fight the fire.
As the building is abandoned, there was only material damage. “When we arrived it was found that there was a fire in progress. A lot of combustible material, rubble, it’s an old building, we fought and controlled the fire without any victims, just damaging the materials”, explains Lieutenant Jonas, from the Fire Department.
According to firefighters, it was a small fire. “Only the part underneath the combustible material. A lot of rubbish, a lot of rubble”, he concludes.
The supermarket was founded in 1991 and closed its activities in the capital in February 2019. Since then, the building has been abandoned.
