Search for dividends skyrockets up to 370% in Brazil, says Google; see main questions

Brazil was the country in Latin America with the greatest interest in information about dividends, according to a survey carried out by Google Trends, which measured searches on the topic in recent years.

According to the study, demand for the subject in Brazil increased more than 70 times compared to the last three years with the previous period. In five years, the increase was 370%.

The term “best dividends of the year” was one of the terms that rose the most in the last 12 months, according to Google Trends research, which points to 2023 as the year of greatest interest in the subject among Brazilians.

Petrobras, Sanepar, FIIs and even BDRs are some names that appear in the questions with the greatest growth in Brazil in the last 12 months – when the subject is dividends.

What are dividends?

Dividends are the portion of the company’s profit that is distributed to shareholders. They depend on business performance, cash generation, earnings and the company’s strategy. They are a source of income for the investor, even if the shares depreciate, and they do not pay Income Tax.
