New operation against corruption in Santa Catarina arrests councilor

Launched this Thursday (2), a new operation against suspected corruption in public management in Santa Catarina arrested a councilor. The work of the 5th Specialized Police Station for Combating Corruption (DECOR) carries out nine search and seizure warrants and three arrest warrants. Among those arrested is a councilor from Quilombo, in the west of the state, where the investigation is focused: Nereu Lima (PL), arrested this Thursday, was also a municipal secretary. The “Deviation of Route” operation also searches in São Lourenço do Oeste (SC) and Pato Branco (PR).

According to investigations, the operation is the result of “the investigation of alleged bidding fraud in the construction sector of the municipality of Quilombo (SC), in addition to other related criminal offenses, such as criminal organization, money laundering and administrative law”. The Civil Police reports an increase in hiring in the sector, with a forecast of R$19 million, which is around six times greater than the average for similar municipalities.

The agents would have found changes, mainly, “subordinated to favoritism and prior adjustment that led to the violation of competitive bidding by companies in the region, which allegedly acted in collusion with occupants of public positions to emerge victorious in disputes”. In addition to the arrests, searches and blocking of assets, there was also the dismissal of two employees from the municipal Executive.

So far, the city hall has not commented on the work in Quilombo. Likewise, the City Council and the detained parliamentarian have not spoken about the case so far.
