The Government of Mato Grosso do Sul will send a helicopter to Rio Grande do Sul, in addition to other resources requested by the Civil Defense there, as informed by Riedel during the Brazilian Sports Justice Symposium – Perspectives and Practices, at the TJMS (Court of Justice ), this Thursday morning (2). Civil Defense reported that there is still no detailed information about the governor’s announcement.
According to the government’s communications office, in addition to the helicopter, military firefighters will be sent as the government requests.
On Wednesday (1st), President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) also called Leite and warned that he would send reinforcements with as many professionals as needed. The president also announced that he would travel to the state today (2) to see the situation up close and eight helicopters would leave from Brasília to RS. Until yesterday, the aircraft were already ready, but awaiting ideal conditions for flight.
Rain is still expected to total more than 340 millimeters in RS. Leite said, during the conversation with Lula, that the forecast indicates a respite from rain only during the weekend.
