Last night, after Corinthians (SP)’s 2-1 victory against América (RN), in a match valid for the first leg of the third phase of the Copa do Brasil and in front of more than 26 thousand fans, the Arena das Dunas gained space in the national sports news due to its impeccable structure and organization.

Corinthians’ technical assistant, Bruno Lazaroni – who replaced coach Antônio Oliveira, who was suspended – praised the quality of the Arena das Dunas pitch and the stadium’s conservation conditions in the post-game press conference: “(…) a spectacular pitch, in very good condition. And the Arena, in general, is very well looked after, well maintained, unlike what you sometimes see in other World Cup stadiums,” he said.

Bruno Lazaroni also praised the performance of the home team and the fans present. “We praise the América team, which caused us problems and difficulties, and the fans, who also created a fantastic atmosphere,” he said.

Another person who praised the structure of the Arena was journalist Juca Kfouri, in his column on Portal UOL: “the stage was beautiful at the Arena das Dunas, in Natal, with an impeccable lawn and stands with 26 thousand fans and red fans to support América, from National Series D”.

The teams will face each other again on May 21st at Neo Quimica Arena.

On the Arena das Dunas lawn
Changed in January this year, the Arena das Dunas lawn, of the “Celebration” type, is considered by experts to be the best type of grass for football, created with specific genetic characteristics for use on lawns for sporting purposes. It is the grass used in the main Brazilian arenas, such as Maracanã, Mineirão, Morumbi, among others.

Imported from the United States and cultivated in Rio Grande do Norte, more precisely in the municipality of Touros, the “Celebration” grass has several differences, including a much greater density and compaction than the grasses used traditionally, which represents, in practice, greater resistance and a high rate of growth and regeneration, being a lawn with a high capacity to recover from damage caused by continuous use and an excellent playing surface.

ISO 55.001 international certificate – the only Arena in the country to have this certificate of operational excellence
Arena das Dunas revalidated for the third year in a row its international ISO 55001 certification in the Multipurpose Arenas segment, reaffirming its operational excellence in the management and maintenance of the stadium. The institution was the first in the country in the segment to obtain certification, in November 2021.

In practice, this means that the service offered to the public tends to remain agile and efficient, as there is a significant reduction in the number of times its structure undergoes maintenance. As a result, equipment availability increases and interruptions, when necessary, are all scheduled, impacting the operation much less.

Arena das Dunas carries out more than 50 activities on the field per year – an average of 30 football matches and around 25 events –, reaching, in a few months, its maximum capacity for holding events on the lawn. “Being the first among Multipurpose Arenas in Brazil to revalidate certification for two years in a row only confirms the success of our strategy in seeking the highest standards of excellence in management and maintenance of our structure”, says Ricardo Ferreira, CEO of Arena das Dunes.
