Open electoral process for civil society registration in CAS-DF

The Social Assistance Council of the Federal District (CAS-DF) opened the electoral process for the representation of civil society in the body, with a mandate for the period from 2024 to 2027. Entities have until May 24th to send the documentation to compete for the election. The measure was published in Official Gazette of the Federal District (DODF) this Thursday (2).

The election of civil society representatives on the council takes place every three years to ensure that the segment has active participation in decisions relating to social assistance in the DF. In total, 12 seats and 12 substitute seats will be filled on the council, with four vacancies per segment (entities, users and workers).

“The idea is that representatives act so that the Unified Social Assistance System (Suas) is effective for users, since civil society is part of this process, whether as a user, worker or entity”, declares the president from CAS-DF, Neidiana Adriana.

Application

Exclusively, segments of civil society that operate within the Federal District may participate in the electoral process. This includes entities and user organizations linked to programs, projects, services and benefits of the Unified Social Assistance System (Suas), as well as organizations of social assistance workers registered with CAS-DF.

The schedule and list of documents for registering participation in the election are found on the website of the Secretariat of Social Development (Headquarters) and must be sent exclusively to email [email protected] from the 2nd to the 24th of May.

Voting

Candidates will participate in an electoral assembly established by CAS-DF, in which participants will speak, vote and count votes. The final result of qualified organizations will be released on July 8th.

The four candidates with the most votes in each segment will be elected as full members. The four subsequent candidates with the most votes in each segment will be elected as substitute members, classified in the order of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th substitutes.

Linked to the Secretariat of Social Development, CAS-DF is a permanent and deliberative collegiate body, whose main task is to formulate and control the execution of social assistance policy in the DF, in addition to monitoring the application of public resources allocated to the area. . The body is made up of 24 government representatives and organized civil society, with a mandate of three years, with a single reappointment permitted.
