The Court of Justice of Minas Gerais (TJMG) held, on Monday (24), the election to choose its new Board, Special Body and Council of the Judiciary for the biennium 2024-2026. Judge Luiz Carlos de Azevedo Corrêa Junior was elected the 56th president of the TJMG. The members were elected by the Full Court, a collegiate body that makes up all 150 TJMG judges.

The judges Marcos Lincoln dos Santos (first vice-president), Saulo Versiani (second vice-president), Rogério Medeiros Garcia de Lima (third vice-president), Estevão Lucchesi were also elected to take up management positions at the Court of Justice. de Carvalho (general inspector of Justice) and judge Kárin Liliane de Lima Emmerich e Mendonça (deputy general inspector of Justice).

The elected president, judge Luiz Carlos de Azevedo Corrêa Junior, stated that it is a very big responsibility to receive this mandate from the Full Court. “I intend to exercise this by listening to my colleagues and with the participation of Amagis, which is our House, which legitimately represents the
mining magistrates. The tone of the management that will begin on July 1st will be unity, because we are one body. We can contest elections, compete among ourselves, but our objective is the same. Let us be united. I want to congratulate all my colleagues who ran in this election, especially my dear friend Áurea and my dear friend Maurício, who ran for President. We all know the values ​​of our colleagues who also represent our Judiciary”, he highlighted.

The president of the Association of Mineiros Magistrates (Amagis), judge Luiz Carlos Rezende e Santos, greeted the elected president, judge Corrêa Junior, and all those elected, expressing support and partnership for the future administration of the Court.

“On behalf of Amagis, we congratulate all those elected. We firmly believe in the capacity and commitment of each person to lead our Court with excellence, integrity and justice, efficiency and transparency and for the constant improvement of the judicial system for the benefit of the entire society of Minas Gerais. Count on the support and collaboration of Amagis to face the challenges and promote the implementation of justice in our state. The Association is grateful for the initiative of all candidates, major members, to make their careers available to the Court of Justice of Minas Gerais”, stated Luiz Carlos Rezende.

The vote was conducted by the current president of the TJMG, judge José Arthur Filho, with two rounds (scrutinies) for the positions of president and general inspector of Justice, through a new electronic voting system adopted in the Court.

Using tablets and cell phones, the format made it possible to vote in person or remotely. For the in-person format, 20 booths were used. The Helios Voting software, developed by Harvard University and provided by the Court of Justice of Paraná (TJPR) to the state judiciary of Minas Gerais, was customized to include the collection of biometrics. The system is auditable and used in several public bodies, such as the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais, the State Public Ministry and universities.
