Flavor, aroma, texture and appearance, both external and internal, were some of the criteria meticulously evaluated by renowned Brazilian and foreign jurors, recognized internationally, who awarded bronze medals to three cheeses produced by family farmers in the Far South of Bahia: the Bahia Maturado cheese from Recanto do Queijo, in Vereda; the Dulce de Leite from Fazenda Matriarca, in Caravelas; and the Traditional Braided Cheese from Queijo Florida, in Lajedão.

In a fierce competition that saw the participation of more than 2,000 cheeses, milk sweets and curds, the products awarded in the Cheese and Dairy Products Competition, during the 3rd Cheese World Cup, held in São Paulo, had the support of the Government of the State in collaboration with the Intermunicipal Public and Infrastructure Consortium of the Far South of Bahia (Consórcio Construir). This partnership resulted in the implementation, operation and maintenance of the Municipal Inspection Service (SIM), a crucial service responsible for the industrial and sanitary inspection and inspection of products of animal origin in the region.
