A confusion involving advisory teams from two councilors from Paulista, in Greater Recife, ended in a knife threat and a man injured with a gunshot to the leg.
The incident happened on Wednesday morning (24), in a square around the bus terminal in the Pau Amarelo neighborhood.
Everything was recorded on video. The images show the commotion and the man screaming in pain after being hit by the shot.
The injured man is the fiance of councilor Cassiane de Iranildo (PV), identified as Rafael, aged 27.
He is part of the parliamentarian’s advisory team and was shot in the leg by a security guard on the team of councilor Marcelly da Aquarela (PDT).
According to the Civil Police, the person responsible for the shooting also shot a woman who was at the scene with a gun butt.
And, according to unofficial information confirmed by Pernambuco Diarythe victim of the injury would be councilor Cassiane de Iranildo herself.
According to a political source interviewed by the Dailywho preferred not to be identified, the victim was shot after pulling a knife to intimidate the security guard.

The shot hit the boy’s left leg, who screamed in pain, while another woman who was at the scene became desperate and also began to scream.
“You shot him!”, says the woman screaming after the victim is shot, while other aides move away to try to disperse the confusion.
This same source told the Daily that the shot was fired after a strong argument caused by a dispute over political territory in Pau Amarelo, on the eve of the elections.
The neighborhood would be an area of political predominance for Marcelly, according to this source.
“There was a dispute between two councilors in office. Councilor Cassiane de Iranildo’s team went to the Pau Amarelo terminal square to record a political video, to ask for votes and to measure that they participated in the requests for the square’s redevelopment works. As a result, Marcelly’s team, which predominates in the local territory, got upset and the two groups got into a verbal argument. Hence, Iranildo, who is councilor Cassiane’s father, is usually armed with a sharp weapon, and his son-in-law was also armed with a knife today. And then Councilwoman Marcelly’s security guard pulled out his gun and shot Rafael. The information that reached us is that Rafael pulled the knife to intimidate the security guard and then there was the reaction. It all stemmed from a heated discussion at the scene over a territorial dispute,” the source told Diario.
According to him, as soon as he was shot, the victim was taken to Miguel Arraes Hospital (HMA), in Paulista. There is no information about his health status.
“Everyone involved voluntarily went to the Paulista Police Station to record the incident. The issue already has a lot of repercussions in the municipality”, highlighted the source.
What councilor Marcelly da Aquarela says
Through a note, councilwoman Marcelly da Aquarela informed Diario de Pernambuco that she clarifies “points about what happened in Praça Sebastião Gomes de Melo, reaffirming our commitment to transparency and democratic dialogue. We refute any accusations, maintaining our commitment to ethics and legality. We are open to dialogue and ready to clarify doubts. We count on everyone’s understanding and support “.
Civil police
The report from the Daily contacted the Civil Police, who in a note said that: “The Civil Police of Pernambuco informs that it is investigating an incident of attempted murder and bodily injury, registered on 04/24, through the North Metropolitan Homicide Task Force Team. The victims, a 27-year-old man (victim of the attempted murder) and a 26-year-old woman (victim of the bodily injury) claim that they were in a public square, at an event, when the author questioned what they were doing there. The author, according to reports, punched the female victim, hitting him in the head with a firearm, and then shot the male victim, who was taken to a local hospital. The investigations continue until the incident is fully clarified.“.

The Military Police informed in a note that: “The Military Police informs, through the 17th BPM, that it was called to verify an alleged attempted murder in Pau Amarelo. Upon arriving at the scene, the police became aware that during a discussion involving Paulista councilors and their respective advisors, a firearm was fired by a man against a political opponent from the other advisor. The injured man was taken to Miguel Arraes Hospital. The person responsible for the shooting presented himself to the 17th BPM in the afternoon and the Civil Police will investigate the circumstances and motivation behind the events of this incident.“.
Until the closing of this article, councilor Cassiane de Iranildo had not commented.
