Mother places flowers and cross in the crib of a 5-month-old baby who died in a daycare center in MT: ‘heart torn apart’ | Mato Grosso

The mother of baby Vicente Camargo, aged 5 months, who died in a nursery in Várzea Grande, metropolitan region of Cuiabá, on April 17, made a tribute to his son, covering the crib in which he slept in the family home with flowers and a cross. She asks for justice, after the death certificate indicates head trauma caused by a blunt instrument as the cause of death.

The nursery’s defense informed that it will not comment on the case.

The baby’s mother, Carine Camargo, stated that there are discrepancies in the information about what happened and that she is still looking for answers to understand what happened while her son was in the nursery. The owner of the establishment denied that the baby had suffered any fall or aggression.

“When I left Vicente at daycare, he was fine, smiling. I gave him the last sniff and handed it to the caregiver. They just called me and told me to rush to the hospital as my son was in serious condition. It’s a pain I can’t describe, my heart is torn apart,” he said.

According to Carine, when she saw her son in the hospital, already lifeless, she found a purple mark on his forehead.

“When I arrived at the hospital he was already being resuscitated, several doctors were performing cardiac massage on him, he was already intubated,” he said.

The mother also said that the daycare has monitoring cameras, but, so far, these images have not been made available for analysis.

Vicente Camargo died on April 17, in a nursery in Bairro Marajoara, in Várzea Grande. According to the family, the baby’s mother sent a message around 2pm asking about her son, but received no response.

According to a cousin, the baby arrived at the hospital already dead. According to her, this was the fourth day that the child had returned to the nursery.

The delegate responsible for the case, Marlon Luz, opened an investigation to investigate the death. In addition, an autopsy examination was requested to determine whether it was an accidental death, manslaughter or intentional homicide.
