Approximately 100 representatives from Sebrae and local leaders are gathered at the 2nd National Meeting of Entrepreneurial Territories, in Divinópolis (MG), one of the 18 municipalities that make up the Entrepreneurial Territory Novo Oeste – MG. Starting this Monday (22) and until Thursday (25), they will visit cities in the Southwest and Center-West of Minas Gerais, learning about the experiences and actions implemented in this region aimed at sustainable territorial development. Sebrae has already implemented more than 70 Entrepreneurial Territories in 20 states across the country, involving around 3,000 leaders from 737 municipalities.

The exchange of experiences in the implementation of these different Territories has been strategic in its implementation. In the coastal region of Rio de Janeiro, the work of Território Empreendedor mobilizes local leaders involved in the development of small business in the Lagos region. Leader involved in this project, the tourism expert and superintendent of Tourism for the city of Cabo Frio, Luane Ferreira, is an enthusiast of these strategies, present in the caravan that plans to pass, in addition to Divinópolis, in the cities of Capitão, São Roque de Minas and Guaxupé.

Participating in the implementation of the Lagos Entrepreneurial Territory Development Agency, Luane Ferreira highlights the effectiveness of this project as it is not imposed from the top down. They are the leaders of the territories who, supported by the expertise and connections made possible by Sebrae, such as the LIDER methodology, identify the vocations of each region, its needs, its potentialities and weaknesses, seeking, together, ways to overcome the problems and create an environment conducive to sustainable business growth.

From mayors to religious leaders, from businesspeople to representatives of the third sector, from independent professionals to members of public authorities, the union of these leaders is a basic condition for the creation of an Entrepreneurial Territory. With the partnership of Sebrae, these volunteer leaders are the ones who establish, for their respective territories, the axes of development, as did the Middle Territory of Paraiba. There, the development agenda is structured around four pillars: education, mobility, tourism and technology. If tourism seems evident given the beauty of nature in this coastal region, technology was identified by the group as an effective path to diversifying the Territory’s economic matrix.
