Government of Bahia hired a panel to carry out a new public competition

The Human Resources Superintendence of the Secretariat of Administration of the State of Bahia (Saeb) hired Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV) to carry out the public competition for the Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration and Resocialization of Bahia (Saep).

The summary of the bidding exemption was published in this Tuesday, April 23, edition of the Official State Gazette (DOE). The contract will be valid for 12 months and the estimated global amount to be paid to the organizing committee is R$1,028,000.00.

The competition will be used to hire new Prison Officers who will work in prison units under state administration.

Total vacancies

At the end of 2023, governor Jerônimo Rodrigues announced 287 immediate vacancies for this competition, which must also register a reserve for another 800 possible opportunities.

“I have just authorized Saeb to publicize the process of opening a public competition for 287 vacancies for the position of Prison Officer. Our expectation is that the entire process within Saeb, monitored by Seap and the union, will allow us to have the document ready in January and call the institutions that will carry out the selection process. Throughout the process, we hope that by October, at the latest in November 2024, we will be able to call 287 professionals to the Bahia Prison System”, said the governor at the time.

The notice must require secondary education, in addition to a National Driving License (CNH), at least category “B”. The starting salary is approximately R$4,000.00.

The last competition for Penitentiary Officer in Bahia was held in 2014, exactly ten years ago. The organizing committee was the Brazilian Institute of Training and Capacity Building (IBFC). That year, 490 vacancies were made available for the position of Prison Officer, with a working day of 30 hours per week and a starting salary of R$1,776.69.

The selection included an objective test, general and specific knowledge, as well as a discursive test. The objective tests included questions on Current Affairs, Human Rights, Ethics in Public Service, Portuguese Language, Notions of Administrative Law, Notions of Constitutional Law, Notions of Criminal Law, Notions of Criminal Procedural Law, Notions of Racial and Gender Equality, Notions of Computer Science and Logical Reasoning.
