Federal health workers in Rio paralyze activities today (24/4) and tomorrow (25/4), in protest against the Lula (PT) government’s intention to slice up the federal network and hand over the units to the management of the municipality, the State, social organizations (OS) and the Brazilian Hospital Services Company (EBSERH). During the strike, employees will remain on permanent vigil in front of the Hospital Management Department (DGH) building, on Rua México, 128 – Centro. To start the vigil, the servers gather today (4/24), starting at 10:30 am, in front of Sala Cecília Meirelles (Lapa), from where they march to the DGH.
In addition to stopping the slicing and privatization of Rio’s federal network, workers want a public tender, an end to the scrapping and shortage of health units, the recovery of salary losses and the transfer of the Social Security career to the Science and Technology career. The career change aims to correct functional distortions and value employees.
A new assembly of the entire federal network will be held tomorrow (25/4) in front of the DGH, after a meeting of the sectoral negotiation table of the Ministry of Health, scheduled for 10 am. At the meeting, employees will decide on whether to strike for an indefinite period of time.
The strike and the activities of today (24) and tomorrow (25) were approved at the general assembly of the federal network in Rio held on April 17. They were also endorsed by specific assemblies at the federal hospitals Cardoso Fontes, Bonsucesso, Servidores do Estado, Andaraí and Lagoa.
