The Central-South region of Mato Grosso is under the control of an intense heat wave, which is expected to persist until next week, according to forecasts from the Climatempo institute. This is the fourth heat wave recorded in the state this year, bringing with it temperatures up to 5ºC above normal for this time of year.

This Tuesday (24), the capital Cuiabá has already recorded a forecast maximum temperature of 35ºC, indicating the beginning of the period of intense heat that will extend across several municipalities in the state.

According to experts, the heat wave is the result of the influence of an area of high atmospheric pressure in the middle part of the atmosphere, acting as a barrier that prevents cold and humid air masses from entering the region. This condition favors the maintenance of a dry and hot climate, increasing temperatures even further in the coming days.

The forecast indicates that high temperatures are expected to persist until May 2, affecting municipalities such as Alto Garças, Barra do Garças, Campo Novo do Parecis, Cuiabá, Rondonópolis, Tangará da Serra, among others. The absence of cold fronts in the Center-West and Southeast of the country contributes to the maintenance of dry weather and intense heat in the region.

Local authorities recommend precautionary measures, such as adequate hydration, avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours and seeking shady and ventilated places to protect yourself from excessive heat. The population should also be aware of signs of dehydration and heatstroke, seeking medical assistance if necessary.

The current climate situation demands extra attention and care, especially for more vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, children and people with pre-existing medical conditions. Constant monitoring of local weather conditions is essential to guarantee the safety and well-being of the population during this period of intense heat.
