New Identity: ES will have more than 5,500 vacancies from May

Are you waiting for a place to apply for the new version of your Identity Card in Espírito Santo? The Scientific Police will provide more than 5,500 weekly vacancies for the month of May. This is the largest number of vacancies ever offered since bookings began in July 2022. There are more than 1,000 service vacancies per day.

The Scientific Police also announced that, starting in May, vacancies will be released every Friday at 8 am, for the following week. Issuance of ID in the Metropolitan Region is done by appointment. In 63 municipalities, service takes place on a first-come, first-served basis at the Identification Posts.

In addition, the Civil Registry Offices will also make vacancies available in the AgendaES system at alternative times – at noon or in the afternoon -, resulting in an expected increase of approximately 500 vacancies per week. This implementation is in the final phase. Service at the registry offices requires the payment of costs to the registry office itself, in the amount of approximately R$45.00 (plus taxes, depending on the municipality), paid directly at the establishment.

To try to reduce pent-up demand, the Scientific Police has an action plan for continuous improvement of the service, foreseeing the hiring of more outsourced servers in the middle of this year and the acquisition of equipment necessary to expand the service.

The Scientific Police emphasizes that the old identity card is valid until February 23, 2032. Until then, the citizen can continue using their current document without any harm, as long as they are in good physical and identification conditions. It is important to emphasize this deadline so as to avoid an increase in demand from citizens who still have their identity in good condition, avoiding unnecessary overload on the system.

Espírito Santo began issuing the new version of the Identity Card in January this year and has already issued 14,877 documents. Only in April did all identification offices in the state start issuing the new model.
