A Brazilian shone with a great goal in the Japanese Championship and could be in contention for the next Puskás Award. In the 23rd minute, Thiago caught the ball in the defensive midfield, took off and got rid of the marking. Upon arriving at the center circle, he noticed that goalkeeper Nozawa was ahead and shot the ball at the goal, just after passing the midfield mark. The ball covered the archer and fell at the right time, inside the goal.
It was Thiago’s second goal in six games of the season, which had just started. It is the Brazilian’s first year defending Urawa Red Diamonds, current champions of the Asian Champions League. Previously, he was at Shimizu S-Pulse, where he played for three seasons, after standing out at Santa Clara, in Portugal.
FC Tokyo, however, managed to react and turned the game around, winning 2-1. With that, they reached eight points, placing ninth in the J-League and overtaking Urawa Reds, who fell to 10th place.
