The State Department of Health (Sesau), in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MS) and the municipalities of Alagoas, begins, this Wednesday (3), a series of itinerant educational actions, focusing on raising awareness among the population to combat dengue. The initiative, which will include the distribution of flyers and the posting of posters at strategic points, aims to highlight preventive measures to eliminate outbreaks of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits the disease.

The activities follow a schedule drawn up by the Executive Secretariat for Health Surveillance, and will take place in several neighborhoods in the capital of Alagoas and in strategic municipalities in the interior of the State. In Maceió, the activities will take place in the neighborhoods Benedito Bentes, Salvador Lyra, Graciliano Ramos, Santa Lúcia, Jardim Petrópolis, Eustáquio Gomes, José Tenório, Barro Duro, Poço, Jaraguá, Trapiche, Ponta Grossa and Jacintinho. Inland, the municipalities of Atalaia, Maragogi, Belém, Maravilha, Santana do Ipanema, Carneiros, Olho d’Água das Flores, União dos Palmares, São José da Laje, Colônia Leopoldina and Joaquim Gomes will be covered.

The Secretary of State for Health, doctor Gustavo Pontes de Miranda, highlights that the itinerant actions aim to mobilize the population so that they do not relax in preventive measures to combat the dengue vector. The state health manager also highlights that the initiative will call on the population of Alagoas to dedicate just ten minutes a week to interrupt the life cycle of Aedes aegypti, as recommended by the Ministry of Health, based on a booklet produced by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation ( Fiocruz).

“It is necessary to eliminate mosquito outbreaks. We need to put sand in plant pots, keep water tanks closed, clean gutters, avoid accumulating debris and scrap, close garbage bags tightly, store tires in covered places, as well as welcome municipal endemic agents. , which check for outbreaks of Aedes aegypti, preventing it from proliferating”, he advised.

During the Campaign to Combat Dengue, Sesau will also train, through the State Management of Surveillance and Control of Communicable Diseases, employees of the Municipal Health Departments (SMSs), in addition to monitoring the epidemiological situation in all cities in the State , with an open and permanent dialogue channel. One of the trainings took place in March, when doctors and nurses were trained on the clinical management of patients affected by dengue, aiming to diagnose the disease in a timely manner, thus avoiding the worsening of the clinical condition, which can lead to hospitalization and death.
