CEB Ipes is responsible for the modernization, efficiency and expansion of the entire public lighting park in the DF for the next 30 years, in accordance with the concession established by District Law No. 7,275/2023. With the grant, the company will have an investment of approximately R$300 million to modernize all public lighting in the Federal District in the coming years.

Currently, the DF’s lighting park has more than 300,000 points serving around 3 million inhabitants. The company’s goal is to ensure that the entire city is lit with LED technology by the end of 2026.

The president of CEB, Edison Garcia, highlighted that the meeting is part of the company’s strategic planning. “We started new investments to ensure that the entire DF has LED lighting. This meeting with administrators is to clarify doubts, provide information, explain our management model and understand the priorities of the administrative regions and the needs of each city in terms of public lighting.”

According to CEB Ipes, after the meeting a schedule and plan will be developed for carrying out actions in the administrative regions, identifying the locations that need to receive the company’s investments, thus meeting the demands of the population

According to CEB Ipes, after the meeting a schedule and plan will be developed for carrying out actions in the administrative regions, identifying the locations that need to receive the company’s investments, thus meeting the demands of the population.

For the Government Secretary, José Humberto Pires de Araújo, the meeting is essential to ensure that services are delivered efficiently and that citizens have a quick response to their demands. “The government made the right decision by creating a new company to take care of public lighting, aiming to increase efficiency, savings and the quality of service for citizens”, he highlights. “Regional directors are able to identify the needs of the community. The government is present in the lives of citizens, providing quality lighting, ensuring the functioning of streetlights and bringing security to their door”, adds the secretary.

Regional administrations

One of the cities where public lighting has made a difference is Sol Nascente/Pôr do Sol. According to Claudio Ferreira, regional administrator, since becoming an administrative region in August 2019, the region has undergone transformations, and services expansion of the public lighting network has met the community’s desires.

“Sol Nascente grows every day and becomes a city, with works, public equipment and now, lighting. An example of this is Chácara 34 in Section I, which received bridges, paving, street blocks and lighting, bringing changes to the residents. This meeting allows us to understand who to actually turn to to address the community’s demands,” he comments.

The regional administrator of Brazlândia, Luciana Lima, highlights that practically the entire city has already had its conventional lamps replaced by LEDs and they are now looking to expand the network. “The correct information provided here allows us to do good work in the field. Our city received an investment of R$6 million and we are already ahead with replacing light bulbs, now we are looking to expand,” she says.
