Samara Felippo’s lawyer denounced racism against her own children at a school in the interior of SP; see who it is | Campinas and Region

Having worked on social causes for 20 years, the lawyer is co-founder of the collective “Women for Justice”, which offers legal support to women victims of any type of violence. To g1, Cremasco highlighted the importance of cases like that of Samara Felippo’s own children and daughter having national repercussions.

White people don’t recognize that they are racist, because it is ugly to recognize themselves as a criminal. Racism is a crime, and no one wants to recognize themselves as racist. Taking proportions makes people start to reflect on how much we propagate and reproduce racial violence in our country.

“This case [de Valinhos] even had international repercussions, and Samara [Felippo] He met me because of this case. When she came to me, she came to me because of this specific expertise in this case involving my children”, explains the lawyer.

When the expulsions took place, the school claimed “consternation and indignation at the racist, anti-Semitic and misogynistic content” of the messages and said it repudiated all forms of discrimination and prejudice.

“The College will reinforce its anti-racist practicesof awareness and respect for diversity, on all campuses, addressing the issue in an even more forceful way in their daily agendas, with initiatives involving the school community, including with the support of specialized consultancy, to seek to avoid the recurrence of a very serious situation and unacceptable as this”, he reported at the time.

According to Samara and the school, two 9th grade students took a notebook belonging to the girl, who is black, ripped out the pages and wrote a racial slur on one of the pages. Afterwards, the notebook was returned to the lost and found.

“All the pages of an elaborate, elaborate, grade-worthy research paper written by her were violently torn out and inside the notebook there was the phrase [racista]. The notebook is already in my hands and a new notebook has already been given to my daughter”, reported Samara in a letter to a group of parents at the school.

“I’m still digesting everything and maybe I never will, every time I look at her notebook or see her bent over the table redoing each page it hurts my soul. Cry. It’s a very painful cry. But now I’m crying with indignation too.”

According to Cremasco, the expectation is that the students responsible for racist offenses will be duly punished and expelled from the educational institution.

“What we expect is not revenge, it is justice, we expect that, in fact, they will be punished seriously, the same severity that happens with the punishment of black and peripheral teenagers in our country. It is unfair that this case be treated in a different way”, highlights the lawyer.
