Brazilian was found lying on an avenue. Emergency services confirmed Giulianno’s death at the scene.
The second parachutist involved in the collision was treated at the scene. He only suffered minor injuries and his name was not released.
Preliminary investigation showed that Giulianno and the second parachutist collided, while still in the air, police reported this Tuesday (2). There are no details about the accident, nor whether the two involved opened their parachutes before hitting the ground.
The parachutist’s identification had initially been kept confidential. The DeLand Police Department announced yesterday that the initial decision was taking place pending notification of the victim’s family. The CBS News television network reported that another skydiver died at DeLand Municipal Airport in October 2022 after an unsuccessful landing. The suspicion at the time was that the victim’s parachute was defective.
Giulianno’s body was sent to the Volusia County Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by local authorities. There is no information about whether the body will be transferred to Brazil, nor information about the parachutist’s wake.
