Family of boy shot by PM during bicycle ride sues MS Public Prosecutor’s Office | Mato Grosso do Sul

According to information given by the child’s mother, she went to the prosecutor’s office this Wednesday (3) to give statements.

According to the mother, the son has not yet undergone surgery to remove the bulletwhich was lodged in the boy’s foot and remains hospitalized at the city’s Regional Hospital.

The family points out that they learned that the boy was in the hospital around midnight on Monday, two hours after the incident.

Upon arriving at the hospital, the mother argued with the police officer involved: “When we arrived, there were two police cars outside and the police were there. Then I arrived and asked “I want to know what happened to my son, what did they do to him?” says the woman.

“And I said, do you think you’re the one who would shoot an innocent child who wasn’t doing anything wrong, was just riding his bike?”, recalls the mother.

According to the boy’s mother’s statement, the discussion became more tense and the police officer changed his voice: “And he said, next time it’s supposed to be on the face, it wasn’t supposed to be on the foot, no.”quotes the police officer’s speech.

According to the family, the police officer stated that the boys were “having fun on the street”.

“I told him to stop, he didn’t stop, we approached him, he didn’t stop, then he started swearing at us, then I had to shoot him with a rubber gun.”, the military police officer allegedly said to the victim’s mother

The mother claims that the ammunition used was not rubber, known as non-lethal.

According to the PM, the boy was injured after the team approached a group of four boys riding bicycles in the central region of Nova Andradina.

“My son said this: that the four of them were riding bicycles. Then the car passed them, before they reached the avenue. Then when they arrived on the avenue, the police car passed them again, as they were on bicycles it was going. My son said that he was there, another boy, no bike and the other two on others”, says the mother.

The boy told his mother that the police officers cursed the group of boys, when as they were leaving on their bicycles, the police officer shot.

The PM was contacted and confirmed that it was a conventional weapon. In a statement, the corporation reported that it had opened an investigation to investigate the facts.

Although the incident report was registered with the Civil Police, the investigation will be handled by the Military Police Internal Affairs.
