A man accused by the Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Sul (MPRS) was sentenced this Friday, April 26th, in Vacaria, to 32 years in prison for the femicide of his ex-partner. The crime, which occurred on March 28 last year in the municipality of Campos de Cima da Serra, was committed in front of the children of Samara da Silva Amaral, 22 years old. The convict’s initial sentence is served in a closed regime. The criminal was already detained in the prison system.

Prosecutor Raynner Sales, who acted in the plenary session, highlights that feminicide was characterized by a base motive, a resource that made the victim’s defense difficult and due to gender issues. “The full acceptance of the request for conviction made by the MPRS, based on the evidence in the case, reflects the community’s commitment to combating domestic and family violence against women, and increases the level of protection for victims, as it demonstrates that actions of Such barbarity will not be tolerated in Vacaria”, highlights Raynner Sales.

During the Jury Court, a witness reported that one of the victim’s children had suffered several psychological traumas and that, on several occasions, he made drawings about the crime scene. The prosecutor highlights that this fact, considered important by the prosecution, was taken into consideration by judge Fernando Gustavo Meireles Baima to set the defendant’s sentence in the sentence.

COMPLAINT

According to the complaint offered to the Judiciary in April 2023 by prosecutor Damasio Sobiesiak, the 33-year-old man did not accept the end of the relationship and, at the time, broke into Samara’s house, striking several blows with a bladed weapon. The crime was committed in front of the victim’s two children, aged three and five. After the feminicide, he fled the scene.
