The police arrested a suspect and are looking for another involved in the execution of a family in Niterói, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, this Wednesday (3). Investigations revealed that the man was killed alongside his wife and 7-month-old sonafter trying to cheat drug trafficking.
On March 17, plasterer and app driver Filipe Rodrigues, 24, his wife Rayssa dos Santos Ferreira, 23, and baby Miguel Filipe dos Santos were shot dead. Initially, the victims’ families mentioned that the crime could be related to an alleged debtbut they did not know how to clarify details about this money.
With the investigations, the Civil Police discovered that Filipe tried to pose as a military police officer and become an informant on drug trafficking in the Castro community. In fact, the man would be linked to another alleged violent crime in the region.
Filipe would have settled the amount of R$50,000 with drug traffickers
According to investigations by DHNSG (Niterói and São Gonçalo Homicide Police Station), Filipe Rodrigues knew the routine of drug traffickers and the dynamics of police activity.
According to the investigation, he offered the identification of an alleged police informant, who caused losses to Lucas Lopes da Silva, alias Naíba, head of drug trafficking in the Castro community.
In exchange for the help, the trafficker agreed with Filipe for the amount of R$50,000, which would be paid in installments. In the first stage, he would receive R$11,000 in two parts.
On March 15, Filipe created an ambush for the person who would be handed over to the traffickers. According to the police, this victim is missing — the suspicion is that she was killed.
The murder of the family
On the day of the family’s murder, Filipe had arranged a meeting to supposedly pay the remaining amount. The man went to the location with his wife and son, but investigations identified that he was the target of the shooters.
Police analysis showed that the marked location was modified several times by suspect Wesley da Silva Sodré. This is because the victims were drawn closer and closer to the community, where they were attacked and killed.
Operation against those involved in the crime
In this Wednesday’s operation, the police arrested Wesley, suspected of attracting the victims, in São Gonçalo, in the same region. The drug trafficker Naíba, who allegedly ordered the execution, is wanted and considered a fugitive.
The Niterói Court authorized the two temporary arrest warrants, in addition to three other search and seizure warrants.
