Álvaro and his brother Mauricio Schwegler took over the management of Esquadrias Schwegler LTDA in 2006. In the beginning, the company manufactured furniture and, over the years, began working with wooden frames.

Currently, the Schwegler Group is dedicated to the production of smooth doors and internal cushions, in addition to other investments, in the cities of Porto União and União da Vitória, in Paraná. The group directs a large part of its production to export.

Seu Álvaro was the grandson of the German immigrant Eugênio Schwegler, who arrived in the city in the north of Santa Catarina in 1928. His grandfather worked as a carpenter and, some time later, founded a company called Irmãos Schwegler.

In the region, the family is known for its hard work and achievements. One of Mr. Álvaro’s daughters, Fabiane Woehl Schwegler, said that her father was very focused.

An engineer by training, Álvaro grew up in factories. “I was always analyzing the materials, how to use everything in the best possible way, how to generate less losses”, said Fabiane.

“It’s a family trait, my grandfather was like that too”, he recalled.

‘He always believed a lot in education’

In addition to industry, the group allocates an annual budget to contribute to teaching children and young people at schools in the neighborhood where it is located.

“My father always made an effort to maintain the school, with computers, school materials, uniforms for the children,” said Fabiane.

The family helps Porto União students with extracurricular activities to keep them in the classroom after school.

Entity pays tribute to businessman

For his strong contribution to the State, Fiesc (Federation of Industries of Santa Catarina) praised the legacy of Álvaro Schwegler, who was also a member of the Board of IEL (Instituto Euvaldo Lodi).

“Álvaro was an example of work and perseverance, actively contributing to the Schwegler Group generating jobs, development and conquering international markets, with a presence in 12 countries”, said the president of Fiesc, Mario Cezar de Aguiar.

The family awaits the arrival of Álvaro’s body in Porto União and the businessman’s farewell should begin around 8am this Wednesday (3).
