The contribution will guarantee the reinforcement of the electrical system in all regions of Pernambuco, in addition to generating more jobs

In a ceremony held at Palácio do Campo das Princesas this Monday (29), Neoenergia Pernambuco announced the investment of R$5.1 billion throughout the State of Pernambuco. Accompanied by the vice-governor, Priscila Krause, governor Raquel Lyra highlighted that the contribution will attract more economic development to Pernambuco, benefiting the population and contributing to the installation of more industries.

“Neoenergia’s investments are in line with the sustainable development and social justice agendas that we defend so much, as they mean energy arriving in the electrification of wells and in the substations of our schools, for example. We are working to make the State grow again and play a leading role in the Northeast, but this is only possible if we have the appropriate infrastructure. Therefore, energy is fundamental to allow our productive arrangements to develop from the Coast to the Sertão”, highlighted Governor Raquel Lyra.

In 2024 alone, R$928 million will be invested, with the aim of making more energy available to the people of Pernambuco. “We provide an essential service for society and the supply of quality energy is an essential input for the State to develop further and further. By projecting record investments for the next five years, we renew our commitment to distributing energy continuously and reliably to the people of Pernambuco, contributing even more to the social and economic development of the State”, the CEO of Neoenergia, Eduardo Capelastegui.

By 2028, more than 1,100 reclosers will be installed in the distribution network, equipment that automatically restores the system in cases of interruption. The volume of works planned will also encourage the opening of jobs in the State. The estimate is that more than 2 thousand jobs will be created to carry out the services.

The State Secretary for Economic Development, Guilherme Cavalcanti, highlighted that the State Government has been closely monitoring the distribution of energy in Pernambuco. “What’s new this year is that the investment is 30% higher than the historical average that Neoenergia was making in Pernambuco. The Raquel Lyra government has given full support to the distributor so that it can fulfill its contract, but mainly we have charged in a structured way for things that improve the lives of Pernambuco residents and the companies that are located here”, he explained.

Over the next five years, the distributor will build or expand 13 substations and more than 270 kilometers of high voltage lines. There will also be an increase of more than 10% of energy availability in the State to make more than 680 thousand connections, from the Coast to the Sertão. According to Neoenergia, these projects will impact the increase in energy availability for more than 395 thousand customers in these cities and regions in which they are located.

Federal deputy Túlio Gadelha, state representatives Debora Almeida, Edson Vieira, Mário Ricardo, Antônio Morais and Aglailson Victor were present. Also participating were state secretaries Wilson José de Paula (Finance); Fernando Holanda (Special Advisory and International Relations) and Ana Luiza Ferreira (Environment, Sustainability and Fernando de Noronha), the administrator of Fernando de Noronha Island, Thallyta Figuerôa, the CEO of CPRH, José Anchieta, as well as the president of Adepe, André Teixeira.
