An agreement worth around R$ 2.7 million, signed between the Federal Government and the State University of Mato Grosso (Unemat), will guarantee the acquisition of new equipment and the cost of distance learning courses offered by Unemat/UAB. The document was signed by dean Vera Maquêa and coordinator Taisir Karim.

The dean of Unemat, Vera Maquêa, highlighted the importance of the partnership with the Federal Government. “It is difficult for a state institution, like ours, to access these federal resources. In this sense, I highlight the work that has been carried out by the Dean of Undergraduate Education (Proeg) and the team to produce these projects and bring resources to our institution”.

According to Unemat, in practice, the investment will enable the training of 1,100 undergraduate students, currently taking distance learning courses in Visual Arts, Geography, History, Literature, Pedagogy, Physical Education and Higher Technology in Cooperative Management. In addition to these, another 732 students are in the Digital Technologies and Open Education specializations; Inclusive Special Education; Solidarity Cooperativism and Preceptorship in Multidisciplinary Health.

The courses are developed at centers in Água Boa, Alto Araguaia, Arenapólis, Aripuanã, Barra do Bugres, Cáceres, Campo Verde, Canarana, Colíder, Comodoro, Cuiabá, Diamantino, Guarantã do Norte, Jauru, Juara, Juína, Lucas do Rio Verde , Nova Xavantina, Paranatinga, Pontes e Lacerda, Porto Esperidião, Primavera do Leste, Ribeirão Cascalheira, São Félix do Araguaia, Sapezal, Sorriso and Vila Rica.

“This agreement will also benefit 530 Basic and Higher Education professionals from Mato Grosso, who work as teachers and tutors, with scholarships that will inject R$7 million into the State’s economy, over the 4 years”, assessed the Director of Management Distance Education, Taisir Karim.
