Here It Happens – New self-pump trucks and rescue tanks strengthen the Fire Department’s actions

To further improve fire fighting and rescue actions, the Military Fire Department of the State of Alagoas received, this Tuesday (2), three new vehicles and equipment for individual use, totaling investments of R$ 7 million, in ceremony in the parking lot of the Palácio República dos Palmares. The new equipment will be destined for the Fire Department units in Maceió and Arapiraca.

Among the deliveries are 480 helmets (240 for Maceió and 240 for Arapiraca) and three operational vehicles (self-pump trucks and rescue tanks), valued at R$4.065 million. For water rescue, the Fire Department has equipment for individual use: eight dry sets for diving; seven dry suits for diving; two underwater communications equipment for divers; 15 full face masks for diving; 100 toss bags.

To combat the Fire, 262 boots were delivered; 75 sets of cape and pants; 240 rescue helmets; 75 sets of cover and strap; 35 EPRA units; 48 EPRA units; 60 white fire helmets. The resources for acquiring the new equipment came from an agreement with AENA (company managing Zumbi dos Palmares Airport), in return for investments made in the base of the Fire Department installed at the airport.

The Secretary of State for Government, Vitor Pereira, who represented Governor Paulo Dantas at the ceremony to hand over the new equipment to CBMAL, stated that investments in public security are priorities, they are a hallmark of the Paulo Dantas government.

“Last year, we invested 2.7 billion. This year we will reach R$3 billion. The private sector has believed in the governance model of the State of Alagoas and has invested in hotels, infrastructure, sanitation, water and public security”, stated the secretary.

The government secretary added that the security forces will be further reinforced with the entry of civil servants, such as the Fire Department, which is in the process of completing the training of over 100 military firefighters.

“In August, there will be a thousand more police officers on the streets, more investments, more vehicles. We will soon have new police chiefs too. The government has a rhythm and our challenge is to maintain this speed. Our government is committed to pace, to delivery, to good social policies, to fiscal responsibility. If we manage to maintain this pace, and we will, in 2026 we will have the greatest economic growth that Alagoas has ever experienced in four years”, highlighted the secretary.

The commander of the Military Fire Department of the State of Alagoas, Colonel Sérgio Verçosa, said he was proud of the investments made by the Government in the Fire Department, which will guarantee more effective and efficient work by the Fire Department.

“This equipment will guarantee greater safety and faster service, a more effective response from the corporation. In other words, the tourist, the citizen of Alagoas, whoever is in our state of Alagoas, will be served in a more effective and efficient way, as our governor Paulo Dantas has determined us”, stated Verçosa.

The Secretary of Public Security, Flávio Saraiva, noted that the Fire Department’s mission is to protect and save lives and the Paulo Dantas government’s brand is to invest in public security. “This is the government that invests the most in public safety, there are already more than R$350 million invested in equipment. And today we are making more deliveries, which are important for firefighters, vehicles and personal protective equipment, which are important to protect the operator. so that he uses the equipment properly and is actually protected to protect citizens.

The Military Fire Department currently has 1,100 men and 19 units spread across municipalities in various regions of the State. “In our expansion plan, it is also planned to install outposts in the municipalities of Viçosa, Coruripe and Pilar”, informed the Corporation’s deputy commander, Colonel Eduardo Hércules Justo.
