Woman is run over by a reversing car in Varginha

A 78-year-old woman died after being run over on Monday night (1st) in the Vila Mendes neighborhood, in Varginha (MG). The collision occurred at the intersections of João Evangelista de Lima and Dona Altamira streets. The driver fled the scene without providing assistance and is wanted by the police. Images from a security camera show that the woman was hit by the vehicle in reverse.

According to the Military Police, the 78-year-old woman was admitted to Bom Pastor Hospital with serious injuries and did not survive.

The driver who caused the collision fled the scene without providing assistance to the victim. After checking security cameras at the scene, the police found that the vehicle that caused the accident was a Fiat/Palio, Weekend model, green.

The driver of the car that had caused the accident was duly identified as a 23-year-old man. Searches were carried out in order to locate him, but to date, he has not been found.

The incident report was presented to the Civil Police, which is investigating the case. The body of Irís Maria Reis Rodrigues was laid to rest in the Municipal Cemetery and buried in the afternoon.
