Eleven inmates escaped from the Vila Velha 3 State Penitentiary, in the Xuri Complex, located in Greater Vitória, in the early afternoon of this Tuesday (2). According to the Espírito Santo Department of Justice (Sejus), the inmates sawed off the padlocks of a shoe factory installed in the unit and gained access to the penitentiary’s external, fenced gate. Until the publication of this report, three of them had been recaptured, according to the ministry.
Still according to Sejus, the majority of prisoners are responsible for crimes such as homicide, robbery and drug trafficking.
The ministry also reported that criminal police were searching throughout the complex to locate the fugitives on Tuesday afternoon. The action involves employees from the Police Escort and Recapture Division (DERP) and the Tactical Operations Directorate (DOT), with support from the Air Transport and Operations Center (Notaer).

According to Sejus, Clauidomar was admitted to the prison system on October 9, 2021 for drug trafficking and homicide.
- Fabricio Freire de Oliveira
According to Sejus, Frabricio is responsible for drug trafficking and homicide. He entered the prison system on April 11, 2020.
According to Sejus, Lucas was arrested on August 13, 2020 for drug trafficking and homicide. The ministry also reported that the fugitive was in the Espírito Santo prison system between July and December 2019.
According to Sejus, Vagner was admitted to the prison system on October 15, 2018 for robbery, homicide and drug trafficking.
- Marcos Antônio Pereira Sena
According to Sejus, Marcos is responsible for the crime of robbery. The ministry did not say when he entered the prison system.
The ministry did not say what crimes Eduardo is responsible for or when he entered the prison system.
According to Sejus, Jhonata is responsible for robbery and murder. The ministry did not say when the fugitive entered the prison system.
- Ricardo Bueno Neves Filho
According to Sejus, Ricardo was admitted to the prison system on February 10, 2022 for drug trafficking and homicide. He had also been arrested from April 2012 to December 2021.
Still according to the ministry, of the 11 inmates who escaped, three were recaptured. They are Iury Souza Santos, who is responsible for robbery and murder; Luiz Augusto de Oliveira Abreu, who is charged with murder; and Paulo Victor Celeste Camponez, who is charged with drug trafficking.
This is not the first time that penitentiaries in Espírito Santo have recorded inmates escaping. Between September 6th and 11th, 2023, escapes were recorded in units in Serra and Vila Velha, in Greater Vitória.
In total, 14 prisoners, who are responsible for crimes such as murder, robbery, drug trafficking, bodily harm and even sexual crimes, escaped.
