Teams from the Special Border Group (Gefron-MT) recovered this Tuesday morning (02.04), in BR-174, Caramujo community region, municipality of Cáceres, the gray Honda City vehicle, belonging to the driver who worked for application and was the victim of a robbery in the city of Sorriso (420 km from Cuiabá).

In the same operation, police officers specialized in border security actions seized two firearms, a 12-gauge shotgun and a 38-caliber revolver. The weapons were in the possession of the two occupants of the Honda Civic, alleged perpetrators of the robbery. The pair abandoned the car on the side of the highway as soon as they realized they were approaching the Gefron barrier.

According to the Gefron commander, Lieutenant Colonel Manoel Bugalho, the suspects, both armed, got out of the vehicle and entered a forested area. Their escape triggered a search operation that ended in confrontation.

The two, aged 19 and 16, shot towards the police forces and ended up being shot. The criminals were rescued, but died a few minutes later.

This action by Gefron took place during Operation Protector of Borders and Divides, in continuation of the Task Force to combat cross-border crimes in Brazil-Bolivia in the State of Mato Grosso.

Driver

Driver Willames Assunção, 39 years old, who had been missing since Monday (01/03), had his body located this morning, on the Lira River, in Sorriso.
