The governor of Pernambuco Raquel Lyra met with the national secretary of Penal Policies of the Ministry of Justice, André Garcia, to present the measures in use and planned to improve the State’s penitentiary system.
The meeting took place during the weekly monitoring meeting of the Together for Security program, with the participation of vice-governor Priscila Krause. Among the measures presented, the state manager promised the allocation of R$105 million for the year 2024 alone.
In the conversation, Raquel Lyra highlighted the increase in state security, with the appointment of 416 criminal police officers by the current administration last year. The tucana also highlighted the opening of new competitions for the Civil and Military police and the expectation of opening, later this year, the Scientific Police competition.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Planning, Management and Regional Development, Fabrício Marques; the commander of the Pernambuco Military Police, Colonel Ivanildo Torres; and the general commander of the Military Fire Brigade, Colonel Luciano Alves, as well as other representatives of the State’s public security.
