Feira was the first city in Bahia to issue a virtual identification card for autistic people | Eye on the City – Eye on the City Program news from Feira de Santana – Bahia

This Tuesday (2), National Autism Awareness Day is celebrated. In Bahia, Feira de Santana was the first city to offer the identification card, in virtual mode, to spectrum holders.

From September 2023 to March this year, the platform has already issued 565 documents. For the municipal health secretary, Cristiane Campos, the service that offers free issuance, in a simple way, represents the ministry’s commitment to guaranteeing the rights of autistic people.

“When it comes to innovative ideas to make life easier for the population, Feira comes out ahead. An example of this is this virtual wallet developed by the City Hall. It is an exclusive advantage for those who live in Feira and was created to ensure the benefits provided for in municipal law nº 3932/2019”, he highlighted.

The card request is made through the email address autism.feiradesantana.ba.gov.br. In it, autistic people over 18 years of age who have autonomy can fill out the application information. In the case of children and adolescents, the process must be carried out by their parents or guardians.

Documents required for issuance

To obtain the card, it is necessary to register providing all the details of the user and guardian (if a minor). People who do not have easy access to the internet should contact the SMS Social Service department to receive assistance.

Among the documents requested are the ID and CPF of the autistic person and the person responsible, a recent photograph of the person with the disorder, a digitized medical report containing information about the patient, the International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD), signature and stamp identification with the responsible doctor’s CRM, as well as a blood type test. All of them digitized for greater convenience.
